"The Orchid Whisperer" is a great book for beginners to intermediate orchid hobbyist. It covers every aspect of how to plant, grow, and care for orchids. It also includes reviews of orchid growing containers and how to clean them, growing medium, and light requirements for the common orchid groups, and much more. Take a look at the table of contents and you will see that all the information you will need to successfully grow orchids is covered. A must have for anyone who wants to grow orchids.

I appreciate this book so much. Very glad to have purchased before attempting to buy and maintain orchids. I actually changed my mind, for the time being, as I am now able to critique orchards at shops and big box stores. And heavens so, the poor beauties are normally on terrible condition. Advice given by workers in the store is usually wrong. Ice cubes in the soil is wrong!!Plus I now know about the correct conditions, location in my home and how to water, re-pot and provide adequate rainforest conditions. Very interesting and do-able. The varieties, beautiful pictures and decorative ideas are also great.Glad I didn t jump in without reading this book!! Unfortunately, I really have no suitable room in my present home, but that doesn't mean at some point the demographics won't change. Knowledge is power!

I bought this because I wanted real information about orchids - specifically how much to water them, and how to tell if you are over or underwatering. There were lots of pictures, but little factual information.

An easy to follow book for the beginner (like me) who wants to be successful growing orchids... I have failed before! I even bought another copy to give a friend who is a beginner too. We both caught the 'orchid bug' at a local orchid show in the Chicago area. It will become my go-to book!

First impression: the cover is beautiful, but the book is very thin. Less than 1 inch.Keep in mind I am a novice orchid keeper.Pros:1. Beautiful, beautiful pictures that highlight the orchids. Beautiful!!!2. Love the section describing each kind of orchid, almost like an encyclopedia of orchids, beautiful picture for each type3. This is a great book for novice orchid keepers, most things in the book I already knew... so I can only imagine what a professional would think4. It has a giant section at the end just for decorating and all the different kind of pots/containers you can use - very interesting5. Good section on fertilization6. Great section on lighting and telling you about each room in the house - and whether that is good for your orchid or notCons:1. There is no section on cutting the flowers, or at least no specific topic. Just says to sanitize your scissors2. Wish some sections were more specific, or just longer in general... (but not a big complaint)3. Short book

This author knows how to write, I will say that. She knows how to bring presence into her story and I enjoyed this aspect. A very nice mix of fantasy and love. The author left no doubt about the connection her main characters shared, I felt it. My issue was that after about 20 chapters, several things became increasingly repetitive. For example, how many times did she have to have the characters proclaiming their love whether in their heads or out loud? Too many chapters were filled with the character's constantly musing about their love for one another (which we already pretty much got). I could do without it, and I am a hopeless romantic. It got to the point where you wondered if she was intentionally filling chapters with these musings to fill space. It seemed that she was purposely drawing out the ending/cliff hanger.The consummating of Arizira and Talliea's love was beautifully written and explored. I was disapointed that we were lead on even after this to the brink of war and then the book ended. I thought that this whole story could have been told here, not broken up into two books. I felt a bit cheated. If we spent less time on repeating information we already knew, the story could move forward more. Breaking it up this way to me, seemed a way to make more money by writing a sequel. So not only repetitive, but predictable, especially the way book one ended. A good story overall, but I could have done without the constant repetition and have the story just move forward. In the end, she gave voice to every character and you felt all personalities shine through, I just wished it kept going here and not into another book. After all, it is pretty predictable what will happen, why not just keep going?I'd certainly recommend this book, it's a very sweet love story written with love in mind and great story-telling. I loved everything else about the book, the beauty of nature, the characters, scenery, the fantasy all of it, it's just the repetition annoyed me. Be prepared to be left hanging unnecessarily at the end.

Over all magnificent, the plot were well written, heart wrenching and connected to one another well. Characters' growth were demonstrated here (something which is rarely presented in a story) Talliea from meeky, insecure and submissive grew into a confident and reliable, i found it endearing when Talliea stood up to protect her lover despite her own trauma. No contradiction were found (as far as i can see) once again this is quite a feat to achieve since more than often author can misused their own words. Readers can feel themselves emerging into the characters' world without much difficulty. Two things only that bother me the most is the author limited and repetitive vocabulary and comparasion. Hackneyed words to describe the emotions of characters made me feel inadequate, for example i was on the verge of crying on this scene of the book (yes it was extremely emotional) when the author used the word "saddened" to describe Talliae emotion, it's similar to being restrainted from having an orgasm (yes dirty and filthy, but it seem like the best way to explain how i felt), my watery eyes literally turned dry, I feel the author should expands her vocabulary into a more specfic words so she can conveys her feeling to the readers better. Secondly I must say that her frequent uses of comparison between how Arizera touches her and the men from her tribe touches her made the arousal scenes vapid, (still a good lesbian arousal scenes but quite dull) the first few times enhanced the story, but after more than 10 times, i must say it get annoying.Overall i would still recommend people to purchases this book ;) worth it, and im purchasing the second book for sure.

This story was awe inspiring. If this is the author’s first work, I cannot wait to read her future endeavors. I am a voracious reader and have read hundreds of books written by many authors -- so, when I read a book that leaves lingering images on my mind of the characters, I know that I need to provide this author with a review and thank her for giving me the added spice to my passion for reading.It is an amazing Saga about love, devotion and destiny. I find the author’s words incredible. I had to look up the definition for many of the words used in the story -- that was fascinating to me because one of my passions is reading and when I learn something new in the process it’s just icing on the cake! Wow! For an author to create such a complex story with made up languages, cultures and people is beyond incredible. I am very glad I decided to read this Saga and look forward to being on the lookout for this author’s future work.

This story is without a doubt one of the most amazing stories I have ever read. Never having been a fan of the fantasy genre - by the time I was quarter way through this story I was hooked. It is a story so vivid in detail that you feel like you are taking the journey beside each and every character. The imagination and talent of this author is outstanding. Her attention to detail out of this world and her ability to make the reader feel every emotion - unbelievable. A story of love found in the most unusual of places, and two different worlds that come together - this story will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more. One of the without a doubt best romance stories ever set amongst a world that will captivate, and intrigue you.I truly cannot give this story enough praise.The author is talented, dedicated and will astound you.I'm so very glad that this story is available to everyone to read - It's a must read and once you start you won't be able to stop

I started out checking this book out of the Kindle library, but I liked it so much I bought it so I could read it again in the future. I loved the story and the development of the characters, but sometimes the love scenes would get a little long and drawn out (hard to imagine that I'd complain about that, but you'll understand when you read it). However, I really enjoyed this book and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel. =D

I am such a fan of Mark Rashid and his approach to working with horses! LOVE his books; they are what started me on a path to a kinder, softer way with horses. I had the privelege of participating in one of his clinics a few years ago, as well. This book was an excellent read, and put many things into perspective for me. I "discovered" it at just the right time, too, when I was struggling with many of the concepts he discusses. If you are serious about finding a better way to "be" with horses, both on the ground and in the saddle, then you will definitely enjoy and benefit from this book. Highly recommend all of his other books, as well!

This is a GREAT book! Softness with your training comes first from the inside of the rider. Easy to say, hard to do.... He address how our unresolved tensions in our daily lives and bodies is directly transmitted to our horses in training them. If you are wound up - get it under control or stay away from training. Oh, how I hang my head in shame for my past transgressions of dumping my lifes' B.S. into my horses and not understanding that their problems were the result of my issues. Over time I have learned to calm and re-gather with a peppermint, slowly sucked, while sitting quietly on my poor victim in training. Thank you, Bobby Avella. (Sp.?) A comment he made at one of his clinics years ago. Have gone through bags of mints over the years. This is not quite what Mark is saying, but a start. He talks of softness in your whole day to day life, being present with true internal calm. Horses do know the difference and react accordingly. Building trust while your mind and body are in a grind just won't happen. I usually love Mark Rashid books but not this one. SO much of this book is filled with martial arts stories and contributions by his clinic participants that I became bored and impatient to get through it. After skipping past the above referenced annoyances, there wasn't much left to read about a feel and connection to horses. I wrongly assumed the book would be about Rashid and his journey to softness, told through personal accounts with horses. What it turned out to be mostly about is other people's journeys and his accounts of softening through martial arts. Some of theses accounts, overbearing long.

I love the idea of "softness" as a way to relate to animals and people. The writer does an excellent job of describing what it feels like to work with a horse to achieve desired goals instead of working against the animal. The feel of "softness" communicates both ways and creates cooperation and trust.

This is a beautifully written and moving view into the world of communication. Not just for those who ride, or work with horses, but for anyone interested in how powerful and effective our thoughts and actions can be. I'm only half way through, and find that I want to savour every word and anecdote within the pages.Mark Rashid has a wonderful gift with words. I can almost hear his voice while he's recounting his experiences of life and lessons. Highly recommended!

I have been working with horses for years but felt I had missed something and was feeling uneasy about every other trainer that I have read or seen because of the GAP in methodology. This bothered me more than a little because I feel horsemanship in my bones; in my soul and I couldn’t identify the issue of what was missing.Mark Rashid has verbalized much of what I’ve been feeling. I like this book. It really helped me to see inside myself where softness comes from. By understanding my actions and reactions to outside stimulus, I am able to now stay calm in all situations so I can be a good leader my horse needs. Between you and your horse, one of you has to be the confident leader. Who will that be in your relationship? Mark is an excellent writer too. So as well as learning a new life skill, you will also enjoy a good read!

If you are a beginner, I would suggest that you get an Introductory textbook from Mr. Carey before doing the Comprehensive. Be sure to get something that is up to date.

This book and its publisher deserve no more than a one-star rating due to the fact that they do not provide any kind of technical support or the lesson files for this particular title to their customers. While there is a number available to call if you need technical support, you are hung up on when trying to call to get assistance. This book arrived in new condition, as advertised. It is a requirement for a HTML/CSS college course that I am taking. The content is laid out nicely, and written and displayed nicely. The one issue that I have is that the book does not come with a content code for the online content of the book. I contacted customer service due to the code not being included, they researched and told me that this book is not offered with a code. Without the online content code the examples in the book aren’t as easy to understand .

Arthur Green, PhD, is recognized as one of the world's preeminent authorities on Jewish thought and spirituality. He is the Irving Brudnick professor of philosophy and religion at Hebrew College and rector of the Rabbinical School, which he founded in 2004. Awesome! It was discovered as a reverence book during morning Torah study. I downloaded the free sample and I was impressed with the other opportunities I had to gain knowledge from some studies that I did many years ago. I was so impressed that I actually bought the Kindle version so I could use the text to speech function.I am well satisfied with my purchase and the results that It gives me. Btw "Maggid" table means preachers table.

Excellent selection of passages to give a feeling of Hasidic though without having to wade through difficult to understand passages in the original. The Hebrew in the back is a great bonus.

Using this book in a Torah study weekly class. Nice change of pace to delve into Hassidic and Kabbalistic thinking. Impossible to read this book by oneself outside of the class. Need many to help understand and bring out the deeper thoughts. It is all very allegorical and full of mystery beyond ones normal 21st century mind.

What I liked the most was it's flow of information. Very succint and tidy all the way to the end. Wish all books were written like this. As a testament I will tell you I have all their books and can't wait for more frum them.

I expected way to much. The commentaries are underwhelming and sort of trite.

For the beginner or the advanced student of Torah this book will impress. It is filled with truth in an easy to read translation.

My grandson is almost 8. He is addicted to Minecraft. Although he is an excellent reader, above second grade reading level, he is not fond of reading because he does not find the books interesting. Well I ordered him the entire set of this series. Probably a dumb idea because had he not liked them I would have been stuck with 9 books. Luckily, I judged correctly. For the first time since he had discovered Minecraft, the video game, he was reading rather than playing. It confirmed Grandma's theory that it was not the reading he did not like, it was the subject matter! Yeah Grandma. So the books get 5 starts from both of us.

I have these paperbacks sent to my grandsons house and he just feels like such a big kid getting his own mail, and he loves these books. I started these when he was starting a new school and was hard for him. So he could adjust making new friends a couple of these helped through that stage, so i just continued ordering them

My son likens reading to corporal punishment, so I am always on the lookout for fun books that pique his interest in reading. As a Minecraft "zombie" himself, I just knew my sweet baby boy would relate to the trials and tribulations of the titular Zombie in this series. My adorable and brilliant cuddlebug devoured all of the presently-available installments and we are both now anxiously awaiting the next. (Seriously. Can't you just churn these out in groups of four or something, Mr. Zack Zombie?)

My son is 8 and has been reading these books since he was 7. He loves them! It’s the only way I can get him interested in reading. It sometimes feels like as soon as one comes in the mail, he’s begging me to order the next one!

My 8 yo son is not much of a reader but loves Minecraft. I was hoping that buying these books would get him more interested in reading and not so much of a fight when it comes to his 10 min reading that he has to do nightly for school. And this book has done the trick. My son will even ask to read a little longer sometimes because he is "at a good part." lol Would highly recommend for any young reader that likes Minecraft.

My son loves these books. This was another hit at bedtime. I just wish they were a bit longer. He finishes them in under an hour.

I have been an off and on yoga student for many years, and am a spiritual seeker, as well. I practice meditation and have studied many of the religious areas that Strom writes about. So I am not new to any of this, but he presents it in a whole new charmingly lucid way. I reacquainted myself with much I had forgotten and many ideas took on new meaning for me. I even found many of my own thoughts brought into sharp focus in words I did not have for them. This is a wonderful book. I know I will re-read it again. I heartily endorse it for the beginner who is searching as well as those already experiencing the Search.

I began my meditation and yoga practice less than a year ago. I feel fortunate to have met teachers and found a studio that already teaches and practices in ways that are compatible with Strom's teachings. What I really appreciate about this book is how so much of it made me say to myself "I knew that ". But we forget and so it is good to have books like these to remind us and to also provide us some new revelations. We all know that as we practice, as we breathe, we are unpeeling an onion of knowledge and wisdom--and we are startled to see that it was in us all the time. Each moment and each breath bring us new learning and new joys. This book also has the clear ring of lived truth, which is perhaps why I read every word (I have stacks of books that are partially read). I will be in a workshop with Max Strom next month; I am now looking forward to it with great anticipation. He provides simple steps to start healing, you can set your own pace. The important thing is to begin.

This book really helped me through a dark time. I bought it for a book club I am in, not giving it much thought but WOW. This book really helped me work through some stuff. I cried throughout a few parts of this book. It helped me get through some pain that I was holding on to. I recommend it to everyone. Give it a chance.

Yes the emphasis of this book is on yoga but there is so much more. This is an open, non religious, spiritual explanation of why the author is a proponent of yoga and breath, The health and spiritual benefits. The author draws on many cultures and religions and melds them together to bring a whole world view of man's role on a individual basis.He gives gentle lessons on how individuals can change and with realistic timelines. How it effects you and those around you.I received this book for free but I did upgrade to audio which has worked out great. It allowed me to listen to get an overview of the book and then go back and read more in depth and review specific chapters.

My go to self help book. As a 2 yr 66 yr old chair yoga student, + Tai chi, and member of a meditation group, I found this book full of insightful truths for my spiritual journey. I'm now re-reading for the second time, and have recommended it to friends. There is not a lot of yoga in it, hence some people's criticism, but its focus is on opening the heart, and awareness of the essence of your being. Nameste.

I never really found anyone who could get my attention when it comes to "Yoga" until Max. His teaching style is attentive, comprehensive and engaging. I'm never board with listening to or watching his videos either. I am really glad that I decided to take a chance on max. Now to try and find an instructor with his bed-side manner so-to-speak.

Clear, conscious and beautifully written. I would encourage those who are new to the spiritual path to read this book thoroughly, especially if you're 'doing' yoga and want to make the connection to the depth and spirituality of a practice that is embodied in every breath and movement throughout your day. And for those who have experience and a sense of grounded spiritual path, this book is a lovely reminder with great clarifying exercises.

I woke up in a contemplative mood today, after finishing my first reading of Max's book a day or so ago. I knew I'd need time for my thoughts to percolate to the surface of my mind, where I can pluck them neatly out of the eclectic brew that passes for the philosophy of my life -- so I can tell you about it. As you may know, Max founded the Sacred Movement yoga center in Los Angeles and directed it for a number of years. I practiced there regularly during those years, where Max's healing presence radiated its way into my life at a time when I needed it most. His book is that way too. Reading it is an experience that speaks to me on many levels. It reminds me of how I can use yoga as a unifying principle of my sometimes fragmented life, which seems to be in an ongoing state of needing some kind of healing -- and if that isn't a statement of the human condition, I don't know what is. But since reading the book is an experience, then my telling you about it won't do it justice. Anything I could say about it would fall short of the mark somehow. Besides, I don't want to spoil it for you. I read it slowly, savoring every page. I didn't want it to end, even though I knew it would. But see, that's the point. The things of this world don't last. The message in this book does.
