This book is full of a lot of good info. However, I hope the printed version is better organized. The author uses terms before he defines them (big No No) and some of the pictures (at least in the early chapters) don't exactly correlate with the text. One is flat out wrong (three pictures of boats - the text mixes up the left and right ones). I think (hope) that most of the problems I'm seeing with the book are because it's just poorly formatted for the Kindle app. It's actually a very informative book, easy to read and understand, even for the novice boater. So I recommend it, but I'd recommend getting the hard copy version.

Still reading. Good info. Pictures are not the best. Info dated current circa 2002. However, for poor boys like me that is perfect.

This book is worth reading and retaining as a reference. The author provide important insights into boats that give the reader access to his knowledge and experience in a very effective, easy to read style. if I lost this book I'd buy it again, and that about as good a review as I can give.

I was toying with the idea of spending a few hundred grand on a motor yacht but decided I need to try the rental route first after reading this excellent book. He made me really think about the time, budget, and pitfalls (and the benefits!) to carefully consider to make a good purchase.

About the Author

Pay attention to the product dimensions! I assumed this was the size of a typical hardcover children's picture book. It's not. The book itself is fine and I don't have a problem with anything other than I don't think it's made clear in the product description what you're actually ordering. When it says "hardcover," I would think most people assume it's an average-sized hardcover book, not a mini version of it. Just wanted people to be aware in case the size matters to you. In my case, it DID matter because I bought this for reading aloud to a large group of preschoolers, and they aren't going to be able to see the pictures very well because it's so small.

I am very disappointed in this product. The main attraction was the seed-embedded paper 'included' in the book......the paper was NOT included. I ordered 2 books for my grandchildren's birthdays to go with gardening items. It was going to be lots of fun to plant the seeds and watch them grow. I guess I'll have to go purchase seeds separately even though inside the front cover and on the back of the book it mentions the 'detachable' seed paper. Grammie Mc

The story was cute, but I thought this was a board book!? That is how it was listed. This was actually only a hard covered book and the very thin pages ripped the first time reading it. The seeds that came with it was a cute touch. The book was smaller than I would have expected. I ended up giving this to an older child as my son is too young for this delicate book.

Nice book. I felt it was a little above my 2 year old but he listened through most of it, talked about what was going on in the pictures and was excited to pick out seeds and plant them.

This is a short book with cute drawings and the whole book is dedicated to the life of a tiny seed. Highly recommended for young kids!

I’m using this in my Sunday school class room for fall planting. This book goes thru all seasons which covers all bases. It’s a little long for the younger age group I teach but they loved it.

It is incredibly TINY!! I never thought to look at the dimension thinking no such size and font could possibly exist to be legible!!! Also, I love the author and thought to add this to our collections.. but this story is too dark for a 3 and 5 year old from what I could make with a magnifying glass.

Applehood & Motherpie is a great collection of recipes for those who love to entertain. I frequently host small gatherings at home and this is my go-to cookbook. The recipes are failproof and don't require obscure, hard to find ingredients. Plenty of variety and not the usual boring recipes that I can find in a Betty Crocker book. Every dessert I have made from this has turned out fantastic. Also, the cocktail recipes are super unique (great for parties, most are very easy to whip up). I love the retro feel of this book, especially the hardcover version. This is a classic recipe book that everyone should own!

I have had this cookbook for at least 10 years, maybe more. I have used many recipes, but I do have my favorites. It's worth buying the book just for the Senator Russell Sweet Potatoes recipe. I make this every year for Thanksgiving, and even my husband, who won't eat anything else mashed, and my oldest son, who doesn't like mashed OR nuts, love this dish. I serve it with the turkey, even though it can be a dessert. If there are leftovers, they are gone the next day... Also a favorite is the Brunch Casserole. There are great recipes for quiche, and even, believe it or not, apple pie! You won't be sorry if you buy this for yourself or as a gift. :0)

My 7 year old daughter is a good, but reluctant reader. It is hard to find books she will willingly read. This book was one of the few she reads over and over again. The reading level is probably too low for her and it doesn't push her reading skills very much, but at least she's reading! I would definitely recommend.

By Char age 6:I liked Ling and Ting (Not Exactly the Same) by Grace Lin. The sister's haircut part was funny. They were fun, cute sisters. It was interesting that one of them ate with chopsticks. I loved how the sisters liked each other.

Absolutely delightful early reader following identical twins, Ling and Ting and highlighting the often amusing differences between both girls. This one’s a classic!

My first and second grade readers really enjoyed this book. Several times they laughed as they encountered the antics of Ling and Ting. Even though this was a 3rd grade level book, my students still could read most of the words and got the meaning of the stories inside. I like how one story built on the other. My twin 1st grade female students were especially excited that this was a book about twin girls.

Sweet story for beginning readers. Wish Grace Lin would do storybook about twins.

A good book that my 6 year old loves. There's several stories in it so there's flexibility to read all or just some at a sitting. We will be getting more ling and ting for sure!

Susan Bernardo has been writing poetry and stories since she could hold a crayon! She also holds her BA in English from UCLA, MA from Yale, and teaching credentials from Pepperdine. A former language arts teacher, Bernardo facilitates creativity workshops for adults and stays in close touch with her own inner flower child by dancing, raising cats and chickens, sculpting, painting, tide pooling and taking nature hikes with her two sons.Bernardo co-authored The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm (a picture book to help children cope with grief and trauma) with LeVar Burton. I got this to help my niece cope with the death of her mother, but I found it helped me cope with the loss of my sister just as much. It might be written as a children's book, but I've been recommending it to anyone who's lost someone they love. It's especially comforting for people who (like me) aren't religious but need and want something to believe in.

This beautifully written book would be best given to a child by a loved one that will be passing away soon, leaving for a long trip or perhaps stationed overseas. This book has a strong message to look for signs of love everywhere. This was a great buy and I highly recommend!

I'm a child psychologist and I have two boys (ages 5 & 10). Since the time the older son was little, I have been in the habit of putting magic kisses on their knees everyday before we say goodbye. They could then look at their knees during the day and be reminded that my love is always around and in them. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs accomplishes the same "connective support structure" to little ones, but in lots of different ways and with beautiful imagery and colors. I read Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs to my 5 year old on his first day of kindergarten -- twice actually! He thought I wrote it because the concepts and imagery are all the sort of things we all say to our babies when reassuring them of our love and helping them to feel safe and secure in their little worlds while they explore away from us. This book accomplished two things. It serves as a supportive and therapeutic way for children to interpret and manage their feelings when they're away from us. It also promotes mindfulness practice in little ones, but encouraging them to look at natural phenomenon in the natural world and to understand that all of it connects all of us. It is also written at a level that is perfect for little ones to work on their reading skills. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs is a book that is good for children, good for families and eventually, good for us all.

From a (former) librarian's point of view, it was always difficult to find books that worked well to explain how, while death separates us it doesn't mean we can't be together in other ways, for smaller children. I found 2 or 3 that I kept on hand that used common images (like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly for instance) to explain death and leaving, but it wasn't easy to find things that explained and comforted without placating or being too cutesy to really help. And, especially with picture books and the under 6 years old crowd, it's a careful balance.This book hits that balance. If a parent, grandparent, or sibling dies, it can be hard to explain to a young child that, although this person they love is no longer physically with them, there is still a way to connect: hug a tree and feel your loved one hugging you back, look up at the moon and see the smile of your dear one returned, kisses sliding from heaven down the rainbow. Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs strikes a delicate balance between being a cutesy read and a heartwarming story that both comforts and gives a smile to the little one reading it.Long story short, I highly recommend this book, for kids under 6, who either are dealing with a separation of some reason (long term like divorce or short term like a business trip or deployment) or for the death of someone close to them.

He also thoughtfully lays out concrete ways that anyone can take his ideas and do something about it. Never felt more hopeful about the future of learning as after reading this book. I also appreciate that Resnick doesn't pull any punches when criticizing views he doesn't agree with. I will recommend this book along with Mindstorms as the two most helpful texts to understanding the ins and outs of creative learning.

I bought this as a required text for a class on educational technology. This author essentially stretched a topic worthy of a periodical article into a small book. If you can get past the author continually patting himself and MIT on the back and the incessant advertisements for Lego, he actually has some good points. Is the subject matter worthy of a book? Yes. Does Resnick do it justice? Not really.

Great book on the need for shifting our education model towards cultivating creativity and away from memorization. Obviously this book is highly relevant if you work in education or have a younger child, but this is also relevant if you have an interest in corporate culture. Lifelong Kindergarten has definitely given me some ideas about how companies can do a better job at creating an environment of lifelong learning.

This is a very brief book that looks at some of the philosophy behind MIT's long-running projects in hands-on learning for kids. If you already work in this space and know the group well, it's a nice short summary of where they are coming from. . If you are a tech developer, you will find the interspersed case study of the development of Scratch interesting, although it would have been good if there had been more discussion of results. In short, a good readable summary of philosophy with a few nuggets of detail, but given less than 5 stars because it was a little more breezy than I had hoped.

Fascinating! Of course this book is "preaching to the choir" for me as I was a homeschool parent whose two adult children are lifelong learners and very creative. I intend to introduce my grandson to the Scratch program.

Sometimes, I struggle reading Mitch’s work because of his style and tone. He’s a man wound up in wonderful ideas and possibilities. Sometimes, this gives the book a feeling of being a step and a half removed from classroom teachers new to this kind of thinking. This is not a primer, and I didn’t want to be. Building on his years of work with Scratch, Resnick brings forward the tectonic views of Seymour Papert, and gives them new breath and perspective. I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the perspective, and I enjoyed the inclusion of the voices shaped by these practices.

Inspirational book about creativity and play. Not surprisingly, there are a lot of references to Scratch (the programming language), and this book made me think about the importance of the collaborative online community of Scratch users - something I've never really appreciated in the past.There are sections titled "In Their Own Voices" which are mini-interviews. I wasn't as impressed by those - I would have preferred to hear more of Resnick's stories about Projects, Passion, Peers and Play from his own experiences.

Mitcheal Resnick's book attract me most about his ideas in HOW to make a kid creative. I mostly agree with his points and I believe these should be the guideline for education, not only for kids, but adults as well.I did not grate it as 5 stars because of all his samples are among Scratch, Clubhouse and Lego. I expect more stories around the world, even around the MIT Lab, such as their studies about Kids interactive with AI technology. I hope his next book will bring us more insight about AI influence on kids education as a lifelong study agent.Any way, this is a very good book for parents to read.
