The quality and construction of the book are very nice, however the designs are a very weird mix. There are a number of images that are black pages with a silhouette style opening such as a leaf or flower. Then there are a number of pages where one page is a large version of the subject and the next is rows of a smaller version of the image (such as zebras and octopi). The images are:A quilt patternFlowers like on the cover and a second page with a larger version of the same print3 large goldfish and another page filled with smaller versions of the goldfish2 large potted fernsA geometric pattern of diamondsA page of smaller ferns or leaves3 large cactiFull page silhouette of a leafA page of camelsGeometric diamond pattern2 large daffodilsFull page silhouette of a branch with pearsA large octopus partly off the pageA page of somewhat smaller octopi also with body parts off the pageFull large roosterA page of smaller roostersFull page very simple fernFull page silhouette of a branch with lemonsA page of zebras3 large coral (I think)A basket weave designA page of pineapplesMany of the images are very simple with very little detail. In the end there are only 3 I like. I guess I will use the others to practice techniques. Update -examples of practice pages added, I’m just learning so I’m just posting so you can see some of the imagesAgain, quality material and construction, but the images may disappoint you.

The quality and awesomeness of this book can't be conveyed in pictures. The illustrations are luxuriously printed, the watercolor paper is substantial (feels similar to Arches watercolor paper) and the back of the book is firm and sturdy, so you can prop the book on your lap if you want. Splash of Color feels special.You don't have to paint or color much to feel like you've created an original work of art. My 5-year old son and I zenned out with this book. He picked the cactus illustration, which he colored with markers in every color of the rainbow and then drew his own desert characters on the side of the page. This book served as a wonderful creative prompt for him. You can frame your work, cut and fold the finished work to use as blank cards, use a craft punch to create gift tags, etc. Even after you've enjoyed the coloring part, there are endless ideas for your finished pieces. I'm so pleased that I purchased two of these books...one for my family and one as a birthday gift.

This is the first time I bought an adult coloring book that was printed on watercolor paper. The paper, although not made of cotton to my knowledge, stands up to the water surprisingly well. I was able to re-wet a dry painted spot to blend it better with no problems. There are many different sized items to paint, which is nice, since other coloring books tend to have small, detailed drawings that don't allow room to let colors flow. Overall, I love this book.

The prints in this book are beautiful for painting. I originally bought for myself to paint with my 2yo daughter but she has been painting so well independently. I just set her up with her washable water colors and rip out a sheet and 20 quiet minutes later she creates a frameable masterpiece! I would totally buy this again!

I bought this as a gift for a friend and she loved it! Each page was beautiful and will be frame-worthy when we finishes painting. Thick pages.

I have ordered several of these as gifts and of course for myself. I think they are such a wonderful hostess gift especially if you pair with the watercolor pencils the artist also designed the box of. Such a nice gift. The artwork is so well done and I have been loving using both watercolor pencil and actual watercolor paint with it. The quality is just perfection. A must buy.

Outlines of subjects are excessively bold.

This is a cute book. The designs really didn’t suit my taste, but my daughter, age 20, loved them. So I gave ignorant to her. The paper is good quality. Perfect for being creative on days you don’t feel like hand drawing or working too hard. Use watercolors, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, or markers.

I gave two friends cast iron dutch ovens last Christmas. I ordered this cookbook to go with the dutch oven so they could learn the art of "cowboy cooking". I was quite surprised when the tiny shipping package arrived with both books inside. The cookbook can fit in the palm of your hand...be sure to have reading glasses at the ready when it's time to cook!

A great little cookbook, but read the size measurements, it's a very small book; pocket book.

I did not know that TR was an explorer as well as soldier, author, president, etc. I thought this was a fascinating, clearly written, and very informative exposition of Roosevelt's exploratory expedition "through the Brazilian wilderness." He traveled with naturalists, explorers, collectors, his son Kermit, and various others. They discovered a major river that was not on any map, and not even suspected to exist. They spent weeks going around rapids and waterfalls. They lost 5 of their original 7 canoes and had to make new ones. They collected a great many natural history museum specimens, ate monkeys and piranhas and peccaries, took copious notes on terrain and its wildlife and plants. Don't skip the appendices, which contain amazingly detailed packing lists for such an expedition. Bully!TR is mildly annoying when he rants about how awful it is to equate exploration with expedition. He's talking about the folks who journeyed down known rivers, tramped over known ground, and called themselves adventurers. This happens several times in the book. Once you know to expect it, though, it's more amusing than irritating.TR has a poetic flair when describing Brazilian flora and fauna, and he is pretty funny when explaining how so-and-so got the map wrong. I enjoyed this book very much. It's long, so be warned.

Many of us can barely be bothered to vote or keep up with the present, much less spend time studying the past. Admittedly, I read this on suggestion of a collegiate biology professor, though on completing the book I find myself having a greater respect for history.The first person narrative of Roosevelt carries us through a fascinating trip to South America. I've never been on an expedition to lands unknown, but I have a reasonable idea of what's involved thanks to this book. Hard work, hardship and the occasional death. Incredible wildlife is mentioned often in the book, and the awe of looking upon lands almost unknown becomes evident to the reader.This was a pleasure to read, the kind that climbed to the top of my reading list and stayed there until I was done.

In this bookTeddy Roosevelt chronicles his travels through unchartered territory in Western Brazil. Roosevelt, along with his son, Kermit, and several naturalists from the American Museum of Natural History joined Colonel Cândido Rondon, a Brazilian explorer on his scientific expedition to discover the source of a previously unknown river.The trip fulfilled two purposes. The naturalists collected specimens for the museum: 2,500 birds and 500 mammals. (Amazing in light of the many laws in place to preserve Brazilian wildlife today.) The other purpose was for Rondon and company to travel up the unexplored river and chart it on a map for the first time. Roosevelt wrote:We did not know whether we had one hundred or eight hundred kilometers to go, whether, the stream would be fairly smooth or whether we would encounter waterfalls, or rapids, or even some big marsh or lake. We could not tell whether or not we would meet hostile Indians, although no one of us ever went ten yards from camp without his rifle. We had no idea how much time the trip would take. We had entered a land of unknown possibilities.The first half of the book was a bit dull, but the action picked up as canoes were lost, a man is killed, Kermit almost drowns, and Teddy becomes ill with a life-threatening fever. I really wished for a map (maybe the non-Kindle version has one) to help me trace their steps. All in all, a very interesting read.

the only thing wrong about the book is Teddy's feelings that only he knows what is best and that everyone should do what he says. But in General he was right and it must have been a very exhausting ordeal as he never really recovered his health and was close to dying while they were struggling in the jungle he was quite a man and his books are a good read as they instruct one in the way things wwere done a hundred years ago. There were giants in those days and he was one of them!
